Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner had some extra motivation for the playoffs, and gave himself a reminder of what; or rather who, he is playing for.

Although it was not the easiest game once again, the Toronto Maple Leafs pulled out a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers to take a 2-0 series lead as the team heads back to Florida looking to make a big statement.
Led by a solid performance from Joseph Woll as well as goals from secondary pieces Max Domi and Max Pacioretty; it was a collective effort that saw Toronto play smart, play hard, and squeak out a win.
But it was Mitch Marner's goal 17 seconds after the Panthers tied the game at three that gave the Maple Leafs the winner, and you could tell how important that goal meant to him.
Marner floated a writer from almost the Panthers blue line and cleared the right shoulder of goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.
Although Florida made a run of it at the end, Toronto held it down with Woll making some pretty impressive stops.

Mitch Is Doing It For Miles

Speaking with media after the victory, Marner revealed that the game-winner may have had some extra meaning behind it, as he's done something quite heartwarming to celebrate his new child.
Marner is writing the initial 'M' to make sure his newborn son Miles is always with him; and that he's giving him a lot more focus this postseason:
I'm trying to play for him.
Marner's child came a day before the first game of the series, and Marner hilariously suggested that his son must already be in the playoff spirit; choosing to arrive in between games to give his dad a break.
But this new Marner we've seen not only in the regular season, but the playoffs, has been nothing short of spectacular.
While there are still questions about whether or not he's going to stick around past this season, he's certainly giving it his all.
After hitting 102 points this season (27G, 75A), Marner has 10 points in 8 games (2G, 8A) and has been a steady presence in the playoffs for the first time in his career it feels like.
Knowing how important family is to Marner, it isn't too shocking to see him pay tribute to his newborn son, and he hopes that new bond can create some magic in the playoffs.
If anything it seems to be motivating Marner, which can only lead to good things down the line for Toronto, and a heartwarming gesture altogether.
