A new report details the status of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies after his unexpected injury.
Matthew Knies faced a
sudden and unclear injury in Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Blues, without warning removed from the Leafs lineup less than an hour before puck drop.
Leafs head coach Craig Berube said that Knies' injury was a lingering issue that had been a challenge for some time, but ahead of Tuesday's game had grown more difficult.
A new report provides new details on the status of Knies, and how he's progressing and the potential length of him being out.
What the latest report actually says about Matthew Knies
According to a report from Nick Alberga of 'The Leafs Nation', Matthew Knies does not have any structural damage, and is considered to be day-to-day.
Knies, a key part of the Leafs offense, has five goals, 17 assists, and 22 points in 19 games this season for Toronto.
The hopeful outcome for Toronto is that what was a bother to Knies was just a flare up and not a serious injury setback that would cause him to not miss any long-term game time.
Although Knies is considered day-to-day, the issue of this being a lingering issue is one that means that management will be necessary to avoid a further hindrance to Knies and his ability to play.
Toronto plays the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night as Craig Berube will be looked upon to answer more as to the status of Knies, and his potential return to the ice because they team can't afford to go without him too much longer.
