Maple Leafs Unveil Jersey Numbers for All New Additions, Including Maccelli and Roy

As Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs continue to navigate their offseason, there is a lot of excitement over the new pieces brought in as the team tries to present a new identity and shake off the whole Mitch Marner situation.

We suspect the Maple Leafs play the Canadiens to open up the season, and all eyes are going to be on the new faces to see if they can help Toronto reach the success they're so used to (at least in the regular season).

But the question remains, who is going to wear what number on the blue and white, and though we know a few numbers, we've got a more cohesive list of the new jerseys:

Matias Macelli - #63

Nicolas Roy - #55

Henry Thrun - #3

Michael Pezzetta - #61

Travis Boyd #72

Hockey Reference has a complete breakdown of every player who wore the Leafs jersey, so let's take a look at some of the other names who wore them previous.

Those numbers aren't your typical numbers for the Maple Leafs, though the one that sticks out clearly for recent fans is #3, as Thrun will wear the same number that Dion Phaneuf wore for the team (and if he can play like him, fans will love him).

Maccelli will wear the number last worn by Tyler Ennis in 2019, and worn only one before by David Bolland in 2014.

Roy dons the #55, a number worn by several former Leafs including Larry Murphy, Mark Giordano, Drake Berehowsky and will look to stake his claim to make his mark as the 11th man to wear it.

Roy's original #10 number has been retired by the team in memory of George Armstrong.

We touched on Thrun and Phaneuf's jersey connection, but it also holds a lot of history itself with Al Arbour, Wade Belak, and former Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning.

Pezzetta, an expected fan favorite, picks a number that has very little history with the team, only being worn by Nic Petan for two seasons, and Jacob Quillan wore it for his debut last season.

Boyd rolls in with the same number he wore with the team in 2021, and only worn by Mathieu Schneider in the mid-90's.

Fans will get to now have a better idea of who to keep an eye out for in 2025-26, and it might not be long before these numbers become household names in Leafs Nation.
