What a summer for Toronto's Steven Lorentz as not only did he sign a big extension, but drove an IndyCar, and ended up tying the knot at the end of it all.

For Maple Leafs forward Steven Lorentz, just getting the chance to play for his childhood team is a dream come true, and after putting in a solid season on the fourth line; he earned the fans' respect and a new contract.
Here for the next three seasons, Lorentz will anchor the bottom part of the lineup in order to continually add a physical presence, relentless energy and some much needed grit.

Lorentz Enjoying a Picture-Perfect Summer Before 2025-26 Season

However, in addition to that new contract, Lorentz has been keeping himself busy and not just through his offseason training regimen either.
First, he was part of the 2025 Toronto Indy, where he got to feel true speed and do a lap in an IndyCar, then he was in a golf tournament, capped off with his wedding.

It's a summer that not only someone in his position can dream of, but this is unlike anything he might have expected considering his placement before last season.
Lorentz signed as a PTO in order to tryout with the Leafs and translated his play well enough to earn a one-year deal. Impressing with 19 points in 80 games (8 goals, 11 assists) and 199 hits, Lorentz certainly earned his extension.

Lorentz Keeps Momentum Rolling On and Off the Ice

He's gotta be feeling fantastic heading into the 2025-26 season and he's essentially a lock on the fourth line along with Scott Laughton and a rotating cavalcade of players (Michael Pezzetta, Jacob Quillan, Easton Cowan, Travis Boyd, Vinni Lettieri).
19 points on the fourth line isn't too shabby, and with Mitch Marner out of the picture he will be asked to chip in a bit more offensively; this is win by committee now.
But he had five game-winning goals last year, so there may be a chance for him to play in the waning moments of the game with some of the top players; and he's defensively good enough to keep up.
We have seen some players regress due to things like having children, marriage, or other life circumstances, so Lorentz can't be too complacent and think things are going to be easy now.
But he's crushing it on and off the ice, and it seems like Steven Lorentz has carved out quite the nice life for himself.
Dream come true indeed.
