Maple Leafs reveal strategy to protect Joseph Woll

With Joseph Woll back in the lineup, the Maple Leafs, with three goalies activated, suddenly have a lot of options between the pipes.

As of now, it looks like the Leafs will have a three-goalie rotation for the end of the season. Unless something happens at the deadline, Martin Jones, Joseph Woll and Ilya Samsonov should share the workload.

The Leafs are set to face the Rangers, who are currently leading the Metropolitan Division, tomorrow in Toronto. Sheldon Keefe announced who'll get the start between the pipes.

Sheldon Keefe Reveals the Plan for Joseph Woll's Return: Ilya Samsonov Will Play Saturday Against the Rangers

Joseph Woll had a great performance in his first game back from injury. Indeed, the Leafs beat the Arizona Coyotes 4-2. Woll stopped 30 out of the 32 shots fired at him.

Many fans wondered if Keefe would send Woll out again on Saturday, to evaluate him on two consecutive games. However, we learned that's it's not how the Leafs planned Woll's return. Ilya Samsonov will play Saturday.

Per Mark Masters:

"Ilya Samsonov will start on Saturday against the Rangers, Sheldon Keefe confirms

Important to manage Joseph Woll's workload as he returns from a difficult injury "

With all the injuries that the Leafs had to go through this season, let's hope that the goalie unit can remain healthy as the playoffs get closer.
