The Toronto Maple Leafs could have a new coach soon according to one reporter who thinks the team is ready to move on from Craig Berube.
It's a tense situation in Toronto right now with the Maple Leafs. Not only are there questions about their lineup and how the stars aren't providing the impact the team needs, but also whether or not Craig Berube is the right man for the job.
While nothing has been publicly stated, it feels like Berube is on the hot seat and if the team doesn't end up making a serious turnaround soon, there could be a swath of changes in the organization.
According to one reporter, he believes the Maple Leafs are ready to move on and a coaching change is going to occur.
Toronto to fire Craig Berube; hire Peter DeBoer, reporter claims
Though there is nothing to confirm a coaching change and this is purely speculation and opinion on his part, but Howard Berger believes that Peter DeBoer is going to be coming in to relieve Craig Berube and it's just a matter of time:
The «Coach Killers» will strike again. Very soon. It says here that Peter DeBoer will replace Craig Berube behind the bench of the Toronto Maple Leafs, perhaps as early as next week.
It will be far-less an indictment of Berube and much more a reflection of his nonchalant, couldn't-give-a-damn hockey club that possesses not an ounce of grit or urgency.

Strong words again from Berger, who hasn't been shy about his distaste for the Maple Leafs and reads more like a bitter fan than an insider, however DeBoer has been linked as a possible name to replace Berube if the team moves on.
Though he's not the only coach who the team could take a look at.
If not DeBoer, who else could Toronto target?
It seems like a long shot but you have coaches like John Tortorella and Peter Laviolette who would be able to wrangle the stars and try to set them straight, and in the case of Laviolette; can try and figure out what's going on with Auston Matthews - a player he's coached before.
There's also names like Bruce Boudreau who while out of the game for some time can still offer a new voice and system that may spark life into the team, and him being an analyst and watching the team so intently; he at least has some idea how to improve things.
Then you have names like Guy Boucher and Gerard Gallant, who could leave the KHL for another shot at NHL glory, or they could look to someone Brad Treliving has a lot of familiarity with and bring Brent Sutter out of retirement.
There's nothing linking any of these coaches to Toronto, although names like Boucher has experience working with the team (and could help their ailing power play).
