Maple Leafs Prospect Ben Danford Reportedly Traded to Brantford Bulldogs

According to 'OHL Scoops' on X, the Oshawa Generals have traded Leafs prospect Ben Danford to the Brantford Bulldogs in a player swap involving picks.

The full terms of the deal, or it's completion, are not confirmed, with the report stating that Danford, along with defenseman Zach Sandhu, are headed to Brantford in exchange for defenseman Lucas Moore and forward Aiden O'Donnell, as well as picks.

An OHL source told Hockey Patrol that the Oshawa Generals have been in discussions over a trade involving Ben Danford in recent days, but could not confirm that a deal has been finalized.

A source could not confirm details. Other OHL sources have indicated that the Bulldogs have held discussions over bolstering their roster, which would have Brantford potentially selling off their draft picks and young talents.

Ben Danford was the Toronto Maple Leafs first round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, selected 31st overall. Danford, Oshawa's captain, has a goal and four points in eight games this season for the Generals.

Lucas Moore gives a replacement for Oshawa on the right-hand side, with Sandhu giving Brantford an additional defensive addition alongside Danford.

The Bulldogs, who have not lost a game in regulation this season, have been led on offense with first round prospects Jake O'Brien (SEA) and Marek Vanacker (CHI), along with 2026 Draft Eligible Caleb Malhotra, son of former Leafs assistant coach Manny Malhotra.

Neither side has yet made the deal officially announced, with it unclear if a trade between the two, if accurate, is at this stage finalized, but if so would add a major piece to a Bulldogs team that is already a strong contender to be OHL Champions.
