While nothing is concrete, we have a better idea of how the 2025-26 season will shape up for the Maple Leafs at least in terms of their lineup construction.
Although there is still three preseason games left for the Toronto Maple Leafs we are getting a little bit better idea of
what the team is going to look like when Craig Berube puts out the first lineup of the season come October.
The competition has been intense during camp and certain players are truly making a strong push in order to make the team, meanwhile we've seen some pleasant surprises from some secondary pieces.

So who is actually going to line up come the regular season? Well, we have a lineup to work with so let the speculation begin:
Knies - Matthews - Domi
McMann - Tavares - W. Nylander
Joshua - Roy - Maccellli
Lorentz - Laughton - Cowan
Robertson - Kampf -Jarnkrok
Pezzetta
Rielly - Carlo
McCabe - Tanev
OEL - Myers
Benoit (INJ) - Thrun
It's not too surprising to see how the lineups are shaping up, as the first three lines are more than likely the ones that are going to start the season. The fourth line is interesting because they absolutely dominated Montreal on Thursday and looked rejuvenated with
Easton Cowan.
Also of note, the trio of trade candidates (Robertson, Kampf, Jarnkrok) were all on a line together, signifying they are getting less looks and are on the outside looking in when it comes to a spot; especially with how Cowan has been playing.
Big Questions Still Facing the Leafs Despite Lineup Taking Shape
So it begs the question: Who actually has the best chance at making it?
Well, if you were to take the eye test, Cowan usurps all three of the fifth line players, has a lot more upside, has shown a lot more heart and has consistently earned praise from both coaches and teammates.
Meanwhile Kampf has been fairly quiet, Jarnkrok was solid in the first preseason game but can't outpace Cowan, and Robertson while holding the most potential, also holds the most question marks.
Toronto has been
working on a deal for months involving any combination of the three, and with training camp giving Craig Berube and Brad Treliving a better idea of who they should play, it might accelerate a deal.
But whatever happens come October, at least for now we can have an idea of what it might look like: A deep and balanced lineup.
