Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander's new YouTube channel has fans excited about what we could see from the star, and he explained the reason he started it.
It's pretty rare that you see current athletes taking time away from their respective sports in order to pursue content creation online, and if they do it's in the offseason and when focus isn't 100% on the season ahead.
But for someone
as cool and collected as William Nylander, that doesn't really matter to him. Not because he isn't always focused on the task at hand but because there seems to be a burning passion inside he needed to find a creative outlet for.
What Nylander's New Project Says About His Bond With Maple Leafs Fans
Which is why his endeavor to create a YouTube channel to give fans a behind the scenes look into his life is so intriguing, because it's the passion and love of the Toronto faithful that's driven him to create something special:
I just thought it would be a fun thing to do and give fans insight into my life away from the rink and hopefully there's some fun stuff in there.
Why William Nylander's YouTube Career Matters To Fans
Maybe we'll see some cooking videos, or maybe we'll get some locker room banter, it seems the sky's the limit for what we can see on the channel.
While currently only as 12.1K subscribers and with only one YouTube Short
so far on his channel (@williamnylander), there isn't much yet in terms of content but if Nylander is as dedicated to this as he is the team; expect it to be consistent and entertaining to boot.
Contrast this to
Mitch Marner, who scurried out of town due to apparent harassment and feeling like the Maple Leafs fans took things too far.
Nylander is welcoming fans into his life meanwhile Marner couldn't have cared less to share any info that wasn't fed to him from other sources, and shows that whatever supposed mistreatment is exaggerated heavily by Marner's camp.
But beyond that, fans often look at players as people who are larger than life, who make millions upon millions of dollars so getting an inside look at how a player of that caliber operates brings them to
a more human and relatable level.Nylander, 29, is going to be looked upon heavily this season as a big part of the offense and looks to build upon his 45-goal season last year and is locked up for the next several years on a fairly solid contract all things considered.
So it's great to see the Maple Leafs forward giving fans a taste of some pretty interesting activities.
Let's just hope that one of the video is the behind the scenes look at Toronto's Stanley Cup celebration.
And perhaps this leads others to start making their own content too in the future, especially if Nylander's channel takes off.
