Matthew Knies was caught in visible discomfort in the first period in Game 6 vs Florida.
Knies appeared to be in pain during the first period in the Toronto Maple Leafs Game 6 against the Panthers.
It's unclear what the issue is, but Knies had previously gotten into an awkward collision with Panthers defenseman Nikko Mikkola, in which Knies appeared to be wincing on the Leafs bench.
Knies was on the ice to start the second period for the Leafs, although he appeared to still look a bit sore while playing, moving gingerly on the ice.
For now, Knies has stayed in the game for the Toronto Maple Leafs, although as the game continues, Knies is still appearing to be distressed on the Leafs' bench, something that will have to wait post-game for an update on his condition.
Bobby McMann had been moved up to the Toronto Maple Leafs first line, replacing Knies who is still on the Leafs bench, but still visibly in pain.
Matthew Knies ending up playing just 13 minutes in the Leafs Game 6 win against the Florida Panthers, still showing pain throughout the game and being removed from the power play as well.
Craig Berube was not able to provide certainty over the extent of Knies' injury concerns, but said that he wasn't certain if he'd be available for Game 7 against the Panthers on Sunday.
Knies will continue to undergo testing to determine if he can go for the last game of the Florida bout.
The Leafs suffered a second injury scare as captain
Auston Matthews left momentarily after being poked in the eye by Panthers Captain
Aleksander Barkov during a faceoff.
Matthews later returned to Toronto and was the one to score the Leafs' game-winning goal that kept them alive in the series.
Also unknown alongside Knies is the availability of goaltender
Anthony Stolarz, who did not make the trip to Florida for Game 6.
Berube did not provide any update on Stolarz in the post-game, although Stolarz was skating on his own for the first time, indicating a return is eventually possible.
Berube this morning also announced there is no update on the status of Matthew Knies from yesterday, saying the team will be able to get an update on his status later in the day.
