Major update emerges regarding Leafs Mitch Marner NMC waiver
The Toronto Maple Leafs could be looking to move Mitch Marner this summer, and now it appears the veteran forward may be open to a move if the situation is right.
From the moment the Maple Leafs lost a brutal Game 7 against the Boston Bruins, talks have begun about sweeping changes this summer as the team finally look to make a run to the Stanley Cup. They've already added Head Coach Craig Berube, and now, it's the roster that could be facing major changes in the coming weeks and months.
Mitch Marner open to waive his no-mouvement clause
According to reports, Mitch Marner could be a trade candidate, but with a full no-movement clause, he may ultimately control his fate this off-season. Now, The Fourth Period have given an update on the situation, with major new information that has revealed he may indeed be open to waiving his NMC to find a new home in the NHL.
The Leafs are among the teams believed to have a strong interest in Mario Ferraro, with their interest dating back to the middle of the season. The Leafs had their eyes on Ferraro and Sharks forward Luke Kunin during the season, and it's possible that Brad Treliving will circle back on both this offseason. But given the competition, he might need to move quickly.
As for Mitch Marner, if the Leafs approach him about waiving his no-movement clause, he will consider his options. While Marner prefers to stay in Toronto, he is open to weighing his options if the Leafs indicate they want to move on from him. Mitch Marner wants to stay a Toronto Maple Leaf
Unsurprisingly, given that he is from Ontario, Marner's first priority is still to remain in Toronto, but with just one year left before he hits unrestricted free agency, it's likely the best move for both parties to move on before the 2024-25 NHL season begins. Since the off-season began, there's been reports linking Marner to Utah, Seattle, Chicago and seemingly every team in need of a major star, so look for major changes over the coming weeks.
