The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly deep in the mix to reacquire Nazem Kadri this summer as a way to add some more firepower to their lineup.

With the NHL Draft concluding on Saturday, it was a wild day for the Maple Leafs. They drafted a new crop of prospects, they have talks about sending Mitch Marner to Vegas, and they still have to worry about Matthew Knies.
It's just the start, and with Tuesday quickly approaching us, the team really doesn't have much time to narrow down their priorities before things spring into action. They could use a 2C even though they re-signed John Tavares, as he would be more suited to a smaller role as his career winds down.

Toronto targeting Nazem Kadri still: Nick Kypreos

So it's not too surprising then that GM Brad Treliving is trying to add some more offensive punch to his lineup, and among all the potential names out there one seems to pop up quite a bit recently: Nazem Kadri.
Once a star, the team had him sent out of town after a soured relationship however with a new regime in charge, he might be open to a reunion, and according to Maple Leafs analyst Nick Kypreos; he's got some suitors:
Kadri has been linked to the Leafs previously, and with the team needing a passionate, gritty but offensively sound presence down the middle, Kadri fits the bill perfectly.

Come on home, Nazem

He always loved the team, was the ultimate team-player, and while he wasn't as mature as he is now, was still a huge part of the community. Kadri knows how much a Stanley Cup means to the City of Toronto, and if he comes in would journey hell or high-water to get it.
Kadri, 34, had 67 points in 82 games last season for the Flames (35G, 32A) and can provide Toronto a dangers net front presence who isn't afraid to get in the dirty areas or have any issues being a nuisance to opposing goaltenders.
It would be a great homecoming for the former 7th overall pick for the Maple Leafs; and while Kadri was perceived as a bit reckless or undisciplined, there was no denying he was a star. In 561 games he had 357 points (161G, 196A) and 387 PIM.
Acquiring him might be a bit tough, considering that the Flames are on the cusp of contending and losing Kadri would be a huge offensive deficiency, and Toronto would need to really sweeten the deal to make it worth Calgary's while.
But he's always been a Maple Leaf at heart, and he needs to come home and make one last run.
