Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving commented on the potential ongoing trade talks with the Vegas Golden Knights and Mitch Marner, preferring to keep his cards close to his chest.

With the NHL Draft's additional rounds taking place on Saturday, one of the biggest stories surrounding the day was the stunning news that the Toronto Maple Leafs had the framework in place for a sign and trade deal involving Mitch Marner and the Vegas Golden Knights.
According to reports, Toronto was to acquire center Nicolas Roy, as well as potentially defenseman Nicholas Hague however no official trade call was made, and it seems like things are still being ironed out.

Brad Treliving mum on Mitch Marner deal

It may have brought a lot of excitement and intrigue from fans, and although there's nothing concrete yet; the smoke is quite thick it seems. But for the Maple Leafs, it just means working towards getting a deal done, and GM Brad Treliving isn't going to show his hand.
Commenting on the potential Marner to Vegas speculation, Treliving explained that he's focused on free agency, and there's nothing more to the deal than purely hearsay:
I'm not going to comment. Tuesday is free agency, we will continue to work away at things, but nothing to report on that.

Marner speculation caps off busy day for Toronto

It was a busy day for Treliving, as he and new Director of Scouting Mark Leach had a clear game plan when it came to the NHL Draft.
First, they took Tinus Luc-Koblar; a Norwegian center with a lot of upside, then were able to snag Tyler Hopkins with the 86th pick. It took a little before their next picks, but did well for themselves adding Will Belle and Harry Nansi up front, and finishing off with Rylan Fellinger and Matthew Hlacar.
It's a group where size matters, as no one is under 6'1 and Luc-Koblar is a towering 6'4; there was a strategy and they stuck to it though it's going to be a little while before we see any real progress.
Treliving himself was blunt with fans when it comes to their picks, and stressed patience when it comes to their development:
You judge these draft days with a calendar not a stopwatch, but really happy with the work the guys did.
But with John Tavares locked up, and a potential Marner to Vegas deal to work out, Brad Treliving still needs to focus on Matthew Knies' contract. Though with that being said, it's going to be a very hectic couple of days, with all eyes on Toronto and whether or not the trade trigger gets pulled.
