Last off season the Leafs made a big switch in net acquiring Matt Murray and picking up Ilya Samsonov in free agency providing a 1A 1B set up in net.
Ilya Samsonov stole the starter role in Toronto with a record of 27-10-5 with a goals against average of 2.33 and putting up a impressive 0.919% save percentage.
Samsonov was also the starter for the Leafs in the playoffs finishing with a record of 4-4 with a 3.13 goals against average but a below average save percentage of 0.898%.
Samsonov is looking to capitalize in the off season as the Leafs qualified him reports say Samsonov is looking in the neighborhood of $4 to $5 million the Leafs offer would be much lower than that.
The date for Samsonov's arbitration has been officially set for July 21st.
This means that Samsonov's contract will be resolved and the Leafs will either have to trade or buyout Matt Murray.
It looks like a Ilya Samsonov and
Joseph Woll will be the goalie tandem for the Maple Leafs this upcoming season.
