Wayne Gretzky Reacts to Max Domi's Signing in Toronto
Max Domi's arrival with the Toronto Maple Leafs was one of the most covered stories in the media during the summer.
He always attracts a lot of attention, even if he's not a superstar on the ice. But he's a great guy and plays well.
He's even got Wayne Gretzky's attention, who commented on his signature.
Gretzky's Comments
Here's what the Great One said in an interview:
"One of the things that I'm really impressed with is that Max had some 2-3 year offers to go to other cities, and he chose, in his heart, 'I'm going to go there [Toronto], I'm going to take a little bit less money, I want to be a Leaf and show people that I can earn another contract,' and that's what you want as an organization.
You want your guys to be hungry, right? And good for Max. I think he's going to do great in Toronto... I think this is a really nice signing not only for Max but also for the Maple Leafs."
These are great words from Gretzky! They will clearly provide extra motivation for Domi, who'll try to use this fresh start to convince Brad Treliving to sign him long-term.
