New Informations on Auston Matthews and William Nylander's Extension Negotiations.

The main thing on Brad Treliving's to-do list is the contract extensions for his star players Auston Matthews and William Nylander.

We know that Nylander's negotiations haven't been going super well, with him reportedly asking $2M more than the Leafs are willing to give him.

An insider recently provided a development on Matthews' negotiations, and it won't reassure fans.

Possible Problem for Matthews' Extension

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed some crucial information about Matthews' contractual negotiations.

"I would be surprised if Matthews puts pen to paper before Nylander does, at least any time soon... It'll be a five-year deal max for Matthews somewhere in the $13M to $14M range, but I would be very surprised if he locks in before Nylander."

This means that if Nylander's talks with the Leafs don't go well, we could wait a while before seeing Matthews ink an extension.

Of course, this could change if Treliving realizes that he won't reach a deal with Nylander.

Do you think Treliving will be able to re-sign both Matthews and Nylander?
