Easton Cowan has made his view on his future in Toronto known publicly.

The 2023 Maple Leafs first rounder has made it clear that his goal is to make the team's roster, as opposed to returning another year in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights.

"I want to play in the NHL one day, and I'm feeling very confident, so I've just got to come into camp, be a very reliable player, someone the coach can trust. I've just got to learn game management a bit better, and I think I'll be good." - Easton Cowan

Currently with the Leafs at training camp, Cowan is trying to push his case for the Leafs roster, who have taken hits on the wing with Tyler Bertuzzi signing with the Chicago Blackhaws and Mitch Marner continuing to be rumored in trade talks.

Cowan is able to play both left wing and center, but faces a competition with other forward prospects in Fraser Minten & Nikita Grebenkin, as well as Nick Robertson, who has reportedly requested a trade. Minten played four games for the Leafs to start last season.

Cowan, drafted 28th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2024 NHL Draft, had a dominant season with London in the OHL, netting 34 goals, 62 assists & 96 points in just 54 games for the Knights, who made the Memorial Cup as OHL champions, before losing out to the host Saginaw Spirit.
