Leafs Defenseman Chris Tanev's Fate for Matchup Against the Panthers Confirmed
The Toronto Maple Leafs got a huge boost toward the return of Chris Tanev to the lineup as the veteran defenseman was activated off the IR on Thursday.
As the Maple Leafs head into a crucial game at home against the Florida Panthers on Thursday, the team has gotten some huge news regarding the injured Chris Tanev.
It looks like he is going to be returning sooner rather than later as it was announced by the Maple Leafs they had recalled
Tanev off the IR, a great sign he is ready to return soon; most likely against Florida on Thursday night.
It's great news for a team who has been struggling with keeping opponents at bay recently, and Tanev's absence has had a lot to do with it, being the glue that holds the blue line together.
In 57 games this season, the veteran has 17 points (2G, 15A) to go along with 151 blocks and a plus-26 rating.
With Tanev more than likely suiting up for the Maple Leafs, it's a big-time addition in time for a crucial game against the Panthers. Not only can Toronto tie with Florida for first in the Atlantic with the win, but keeps the gap between them and Tampa Bay a bit wider.
It may be a bit rushed to bring Tanev back especially if he isn't exactly 100% (even ready to go doesn't equate to fully healthy) but Toronto is going to be in tough against Florida and will need as much help as they can get.
We will see how Tanev can handle the Panthers as they head into Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs from Scotiabank Arena; the puck drop is scheduled for 7PM ET.
