Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube had Anthony Stolarz's back and understands why he lashed out after a frustrating couple of games over the last week.

It was a frustrating couple of games for Anthony Stolarz this past week. First, he was bumped and had his mask dislodged, but still had to make a crucial save off a JT Miller shot and was none too pleased the call wasn't blown down.
He asked for at least a consideration regarding a rule change, and has some back up when it comes to that notion. But heading into Saturday, no one expected Stolarz to show such fire.
After being crashed into by Jaden Schwartz for a goal earlier (thanks to Brandon Carlo), Stolarz was charged by former Maple Leaf Mason Marchment and snapped, throwing the net off its moorings and laying in some deserved shots to the Kraken forward.

Craig Berube Stands By His Goaltender

Post-game, he was frustrated with how his team let him down and needs to help him more both protection wise and preventing scoring chances; something eluding them right now.
But no one is blaming Stolarz for being upset, and head coach Craig Berube sees exactly why the goaltender is angry, and implored his team to do better:
We're not clearing out the crease enough, we're not doing a good enough job there"

"We got to protect our goalie. You got to be harder around our net. I'm not preaching, 'Go & take guys' heads off' but enough's enough.
Interestingly, Stolarz also said "Enough's enough" regarding his team, so it's clear people are fed up and Berube isn't going to let it slide. The team needs to fight back at times, and regardless if there's retaliation; protect your goalie.

Toronto Needs A Serious Wake-Up Call

Not saying we need to start going back to the 1980's, but maybe Carlo shouldn't wait ten seconds, or have his goaltender take matters into his own hands. You're 6'6, 225 pounds, use your size.
Toronto will get the chance to give Stolarz more protection and try to atone for their ways on Tuesday when they face the New Jersey Devils to finish off their five-game homestand.
If they end up playing tighter defense, boxing out opponents and giving them headaches at every turn, then perhaps they listened to Craig Berube's plea.
But if they don't? Don't expect Berube nor Stolarz to give any pleasantries after the game.
