Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood recently switched agents over to the same as Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews; could a potential trade be in the works?

We see from time to time that NHL players tend to switch agents especially ahead of a big free agency period, or if they decide that a new representative can bring them the best possible career path.
Some of the top agents in the league command some ridiculous contracts, with Pat Brisson leading the way with a staggering 83 contracts worth $1.36-billion combined, nearly a $70-million gap between him and Craig Oster.

What Sherwood's Agent Move Could Signal

One agent who doesn't necessarily have the most ridiculous contracts is Judd Moldhaver with a combined clientele list of under $500-million; however he does hold both Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid as players so he's got a ton of capital to rise that amount.
Well, he may be adding a few more million come next season too. According to a report, Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood decided to make a switch to Moldhaver ahead of the 2026 free agency class; one that will see several of his clients become free agents themselves.
The news was reported by Rick Dhaliwal on social media:
Rich Evans and Judd Moldaver of Wasserman have added Keifer Sherwood as a client. An impending UFA. Will be interesting if things move along or if the year goes along.

So with Sherwood moving to the same agent as Matthews, is there a potential for him to come over to Toronto?

Why Leafs Could Be Watching for Affordable Physical Depth

If so, then he would be an incredible addition to the team. You wanna talk adding physicality? Sherwood has 462 hits last season. That was not a typo, and no he wasn't playing the latest NHL video game; he averaged nearly six hits a game.
Not only that, but he added 40 points in those 78 games (19 goals, 21 assists) which blew away his previous career high, but manages to somehow keep his penalty minutes low despite being so aggressive.
If the team were to add him along with Dakota Joshua on their third line along with Nicolas Roy, it would create such a physical presence up front, with the possibility for 600+ hits between the two as well as 15-20 goal potential.
Having that come playoff time is going to be a game-changer, and if Sherwood were to come aboard in time to face someone like the Panthers, he would be allowed to run roughshod over the competition and create more havoc than Florida would expect.
He only makes $1.5-million, so he's no doubt going to get a big raise and if the Maple Leafs can bring him in on the cheap, then sign him to a three or four-year deal worth $3.5-million a year; not too shabby for someone who has such an impact.
So Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs need to keep an eye on Keifer Sherwood and see if he's going to be thinking of heading elsewhere next season, because he might be able to convince him to come over now and stay where he can make a huge difference.
