BREAKING: Maple Leafs Make Surprising Call For Tonight's Starting Goalie
The Maple Leafs announced who'll be the starting goaltender tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Maple Leafs Vs. Golden Knights: Ilya Samsonov to Start With Martin Jones Backing Up
Sheldon Keefe revealed that Ilya Samsonov will play tonight, and Martin Jones will be his backup.
This is surprising news, considering the organization recalled Joseph Woll from his conditioning stint in the AHL. Woll hasn't been activated on the roster yet, and we won't see him in a game until the Leafs make the official move.
However, with Samsonov finally finding his stride, winning nine out of his last 11 games, this is a strategic decision. Last Thursday, the Leafs beat the Golden Knights 7-3. Samsonov will need to be at the top of his form to face Vegas, who'll surely try to make up for last week's tough loss.
Do you think Joseph Woll will play a game with the Maple Leafs this week?
