Despite having 12 points in 19 games Bunting is not living up to management and coaches expectations. Until his play improves in the eyes of decision-makers his ice time will likely continue to dip.
It looks as though the Maple Leafs dodged a potential bullet by letting Michael Bunting head to free agency.
