Avalanche Coach Has Interesting Comments on the Leafs Game Play After Comeback Loss
The Toronto Maple Leafs were able to pull off an incredible win last night against the Avalanche after going down 2-0, and the Avs coach had some surprising comments about the Leafs' gameplay after the game.
Jared Bednar Comments on Leafs' Defensive Play After Losing
The Toronto Maple Leafs are on a heater, winning their 7th straight against the Colorado Avalanche last night. After going down 2-0 to one of the NHL's Cup frontrunners this year, it appeared that the Leafs' success would be halted. Hoewever, they were able to claw their way back into the game, and come out with a win last night.
After the game, Avalanche Coach Jared Bednar had the following comments on the Leafs' gameplay, stating that he believes they are one of the NHL's best teams on both ends of the ice.
"Number one, they're first in offence in the league in the last 10 games. And then you look at their defending numbers... I always feel like they don't get enough credit for the way they defend and how hard they defend and their chance suppression," Bednar said.
"It's been good now for a couple of years, and yet they still get beat up over it at times, I think, because they're a really good offensive team. And, you know, there's a lot of weapons on the team, but they're committed to what they're doing on the defensive side of it. They put the whole package together here, especially in the last 10 games. And they're winning every night."
Leafs Get High Praise From One of the NHL's Best Coaches
Bednar is undoubtedly one of the NHL's best, as he won a cup with the team in 2022, and was the first coach to win the current ECHL, AHL, and NHL trophies. His praise is worth its weight in gold and should give Toronto fans some perspective on just how good their team really is.
Ultimately, the true test will come down the stretch for the Leafs and into the playoffs, as fans are used to regular-season success. That isn't the goal, and hopefully, this team is the one that can deliver.
