Matthews Could Have Been Injured All Along
One of the biggest storylines in the 2nd round was Auston Matthews being nearly silent all series.
The star center registered just 2 points in the series against Florida with zero goals.
This kind of production from a two-time Rocket Richard winner and former MVP is simply unacceptable.
Or is it?
Matthews was pictured wearing a wrist brace on his shooting wrist which could greatly affect his shot accuracy and shot power which could have nerfed him into being an average shooter.
If this is the case, Matthews may be let off the hook by management but certainly not by the media.
While Auston Matthews was hurt, there is no excuse for showing up to every game, and going scoreless in the final 3 games is certainly inexcusable for a player of his caliber.
All in all, the Leafs lost and a large part of that was the star players not coming to play. Now Auston Matthews' future with the Leafs is uncertain and he may be on his way out soon.
