Auston Matthews gives his props to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. after he wore his jersey before the Blue Jays Game 7, then proceeding to advance to the 2025 World Series.
Guerrero wore Matthews' jersey as he arrived at the Rogers Centre ahead of a must-win in the American League Championship Series (ALCS) against the Seattle Mariners.
Despite jokes made about the Leafs game 7 record, the Jays took care of the Mariners, defeating Seattle 4-3 to advance to the World Series to take on Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Down 3-1 in the seventh inning, George Springer took a pit from Eduard Bazardo deep for a three-run home run, all the Jays needed to advance.
Auston Matthews Sports Blue Jays Jersey Ahead of Tonight's Leafs Game
After the Jays win, and returning the favor for Vladdy's tribute to his fellow Toronto star, Auston Matthews has entered Scotiabank Arena for the Leafs game wearing a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Jays jersey.
Ahead of the Leafs game tonight against the New Jersey Devils, Matthews arrived in Guerrero's jersey, paying tribute between stars.
The California-born Matthews isn't expressing loyalty towards the Dodgers, although he did grow up near San Francisco, home of the Giants. California native Nick Robertson declined to speak on who he will support.
Ontario native Easton Cowan was among the Leafs forwards cheering for the Blue Jays after their series win.
With the Jays headed for the World Series after one of the biggest moments in their history, the Leafs will likely be taking a back seat for baseball fever as the Jays are four games from a title.
