Three Notable Trade Options Emerge for Mitch Marner
A lot of changes are expected to be made in the Maple Leafs organization. Staff members, as well as players' jobs, aren't safe. Shanahan looks determined to hire a GM who isn't afraid to make big decisions, and the person who gets the job could drastically change the Leafs.
In recent weeks, many rumors have been circulating about trading members of the Core Four to free up some cap space and use the money to re-sign some UFAs.
The website Editor in Leaf came up with three hypothetical trades involving Mitch Marner.
Three Possible Destinations for Marner
Marner is undoubtedly among the elite in the NHL. His value is extremely high, and if the Leafs decide to put him on the market, they could get a considerable return.
Proposition #1: Winnipeg Jets
Toronto Maple Leafs acquire: Mark Scheifele, Adam Lowry, and 1st Round Pick (18th overall)
Winnipeg Jets acquire: Mitch Marner
Something needs to change in the Jets organization. Mitch Marner could be part of the solution over there.
Proposition #2: San Jose Sharks
Maple Leafs receive: Erik Karlsson
Sharks receive: Mitch Marner
This one-on-one trade would benefit both teams. The Leafs need a strong offensive defenseman, and the Sharks need... well... everything.
Proposition #3: Columbus Blue Jackets
Maple Leafs get: Patrik Laine, Boone Jenner, 2023 1st Round (22nd overall)
Blue Jackets get: Mitch Marner
The Johnny Gaudreau - Patrik Laine tandem hasn't worked out the way Columbus expected. Mitch Marner with Gaudreau would be a deadly duo.
