Last week, the NHL and the hockey community as a whole were rocked by the sudden passing of Maple Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov, and now, it appears he's getting honoured in a well deserved manner.
A respected person
Not only was Amirov a fantastic hockey player, but at 21-years of age, he was well respected for his attitude, his strength and his positivity, and he leaves behind a fantastic legacy.
He never had the chance to make it as far as some expected, but from all reports, he was upbeat and positive about everything until the end, and that's a great legacy for a young man to leave behind.
An incredible honor
Now, his KHL team the Salavat Yuaev Ufa have confirmed that his number will never be used again, as it will be retired in a very special ceremony commemorating his life on and off the ice.
At 21, not many people outside of Russia got to see his game, but his story has resonated with many players and fans of the NHL, so hopefully his upbeat nature and positivity can inspire many around the world to live life to the fullest as he gets this incredibly well deserved honour.
