Mitch Marner Makes a Statement regarding Matthews and Nylander's Contracts
This Leafs off season started off by focusing on Brad Treliving being the GM but has quickly shifted to the Auston Matthews, William Nylander contract negotiations.
Marner Comments on Matthews, Nylander
Mitch Marner went on OverDrive 1050 and talked about Matthews and Nylander with their contract extensions.
"I'm their friend before teammates for both", says Mitch but adds "both have a lot of passion and want to be here". - Marner
Marner hopes that everything works out for them but isn't involved other than supporting them as friends.
Nylander and Matthews
Nylander has been the talk of Leafs nation as reports came out that he and the Leafs are very far apart, with the Leafs offering $8 million but Nylander wants over $10 million.
Matthews has been electric for the Leafs scoring 60 goals in a season and being the best goal scorer the Leafs have had in years, the belief is that Matthews will eventually sign with a deal but no longer than 4-5 years.
This looks like the last year of the Toronto core 4 before they starting splitting off.
