Maple Leafs Cap Guru Rejects Kyle Dubas
Kyle Dubas recently named himself GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins, after taking the job as President of Hockey Operations with the organization earlier this offseason.
Dubas Poaching Efforts
Dubas was quick to poach some of his former Leaf favourites, snagging Noel Acciari in free agency to add forward depth to the Penguins. Recent reports indicate that the poaching efforts didn't stop there.
Update: Kyle Dubas was reportedly waiting on a decision from Maple Leafs AGM Brandon Pridham before being named President of Hockey Operations and GM of the Penguins.
Rejection for Dubas
It's clear that Dubas didn't want to assume the role of GM for the Penguins. His announcement stated that he would be taking the role over in the interim through to July. What's now clear is that Dubas had his eyes on Brandon Pridham to fill that role.
This is good news for the Leafs organization. With new GM Brad Treliving at the helm, Pridham could have easily jumped ship and followed Dubas to Pittsburgh. However, his loyalty to the Leafs could signal his belief that the organization is headed in the right direction.
