The Toronto Maple Leafs are rumoured to be one of the front runners for a potential trade in the next few weeks, and these two recent roster moves are raising eyebrows.
Maple Leafs Send Down Lajoie and McMann Ahead of Game Tonight
The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off a back-to-back in New York and will play the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight in their return to Toronto. While the Leafs tugged through their road trip which was plagued by illness, it appears they have gotten over that as they announced they are sending down Bobby McMann and Max Lajoie to the Toronto Marlies.
The move is likely just a regular transaction as players get healthy and back into the lineup again, as the Leafs won't need the reinforcements. However, it could also be indicative of something else happening in the lineup.
Holiday Trade Freeze Approaching Quickly for Brad Treliving
McMann and Lajoie are clearly on the bubble for the Leafs, however, the demotion back to the AHL comes at an interesting time. Could it be that Brad Treliving has finally completed the long-rumoured trade for a defenseman? Or, is it just that Timothy Liljegren is set to make his return to the lineup?
Timothy Liljegren is joining the morning skate here.
He has yet to get into a practice, which is usually when the team can start talking about a return to the lineup.
