Perhaps no character on the Leafs has been more polarizing than Mitch Marner over the past few years. His play can be among the best in the league for long stretches of time, but when it matters most in the playoffs, he seems to disappear.
Marner on the Move?
Some fans have taken it upon themselves to propose a trade that would send Marner to the Western Conference, Dallas to be exact.
This trade would see the Leafs move Marner for an all-star defenseman in Miro Heiskanen. While it would sting to get rid of such a talented forward, the Leafs are flush with forward depth and would be getting a true number-one defenseman in return.
Heiskanen has the talent and experience to serve as a true number-one defenseman in the NHL and would be just as much of a threat offensively as he is defensively.
Dallas Reunion
This trade would see a reunion for the ages, as defensemen Miro Heiskanen and John Klingberg would be together again for the first time since the 2021-2022 season. This duo was deadly during their time together in Dallas and could terrorize the league if they reunited along with an offense of Toronto's caliber.
