The Toronto Maple Leafs have the weight of the world on their shoulders heading into 2023-24, but for some, it's all about getting healthy and just making the team.

A top prospect

That's the case for Nick Robertson, younger brother of Stars superstar Jason, who was once seen as the Leafs top prospect, but after injuries have plagued him since the 2021-22 campaign, the fans have focused on other top prospects like Matthew Knies.

However, it appears Nick is getting healthy, and after appearing in 15 games (2 goals, 3 assists) for Toronto a season ago, he is preparing to make the massive leap this upcoming year.

A fantastic rehab program

In his latest interview with TSN's Mark Masters, Robertson has detailed how he is eager for a fresh start as he prepares for the 2023-24 season.

It's frustrating, obviously isn't the start to the pro career that I wanted but it is what it is, like I said the show goes on I have to do my part to get ready for the season. Getting ready to make the Leafs. That has been my main focus since the injury. When I got the surgery in January, I knew from that point on it was time to prepare myself for the next season. To look over fil, to look over areas where I can improve on."

"I am a very fast base player. I need to pick and choose when to use it. When to slow it down or speed up off the wall. Using my skating ability to use my shot which is what I want to do.

With many now looking at Knies as the top prospect with pressure on to perform, Robertson could slip into a nice bottom-six role this year, and if he stays healthy, he's shown that his speed and shot are ready to play at the NHL level, so this will be a key year in his career.
