The Leafs were unable to keep Michael Bunting on the Leafs roster for the upcoming season. Bunting answered on why he choose to leave Leafs roster.

Bunting has said he wants to win the Stanley cup and feels that the Hurricanes have a better chance at that.
Bunting told NHL Network on Wednesday.
He also said Rod Brind'Amour reached talked to him on the first day of free agency making it easier to sign with the team.
Bunting signed a 3-year $13.5 million deal this off season.
Bunting's Production
Michael Bunting had two really solid for the Leafs collecting a career high in points last season with 63, this past season Bunting struggled a bit with the Leafs only collect 49 points and 103 PIMs.
Bunting's production really fell off in the playoffs for the Leafs as he got suspended for 3 games in the first round against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
He only collected 2 points in 7 playoff games.
