Leafs' Defenseman Timothy Liljegren Looks Poised For A Big Contract Year
Timothy Liljegren's time with the Toronto Maple Leafs has not gone as well as many had hoped when he was selected 17th overall in 2017. This may be changing though as he looks to be work hard to make major strides of improvement.
Liljegren's Breakout World Championships
Timothy Liljegren had the opportunity to represent Sweden at this year's World Championships. He was able to take the opportunity and run with it obtaining 4 points in 5 games. He looked confident and dynamic during the tournament something that has often been missing from his play in Toronto.
Even going back to his draft year Liljegren has always been best when he is allowed to impact the game in the offensive zone. With John Klingberg coming to town the powerplay opportunities might not be available for Liljegren but the hope is that Klingberg can show him how to play more offensive-minded.
Liljegren Making Progress Off The Ice
Recently a video came out of Timothy Liljegren getting after it in the gym to prepare for the upcoming season.
Timothy Liljegren is also ramping up his pre-season training in Ängelholm
If Liljegren can have a truly breakout season it would be a massive help to the Leafs. Up to this point, the brunt of offensive responsibilities on the back end has fallen on Morgan Rielly. John Klingberg will help alleviate this but if Liljegren can step up too the Leafs' defense could become one of the most dynamic groups in the league.
