Kyle Dubas Reveals Exactly What Made Things Fall Apart in His Final Press Conference as Leafs' GM
When he did his post-season press conference, Kyle Dubas said that he wasn't willing to find a job elsewhere than in Toronto.
"You won't see me next week popping up elsewhere, I can't put my family through that," he said.
Thirteen days later, he signed with the Penguins.
Kyle Dubas Reveals Exactly What Made Things Fall Apart in His Final Press Conference as Leafs' GM
Yesterday, during his first interview as President of Hockey Operations in Pittsburgh, when a journalist asked why he changed his mind so quickly and drastically, here's what he said:
"Maybe I was too honest that day. But it's in the past."
His wife, Shannon, had a lot to do with the decision process.
As explained by Dubas:
"Shannon's view was, if we're gonna move, we should move now before the kids are too entrenched in a city. You never know if passing on this opportunity to work with these people and for a city like this and a group like this will be available in the future. So we jumped in today with both feet."
The declaration he made about how it was Toronto or nothing might have been the point of no return for Shanahan. But as Dubas said, it's in the past.
We look forward to seeing what he'll accomplish in Pittsburgh.
