Report: Canadian Team Actively Pursuing Jonathan Toews
Jonathan Toews' future couldn't be more blurry. Even though he managed to play 53 games this season, he still struggles with health issues.
Knowing how uncertain his situation will be in the next year, the Blackhawks decided not to re-sign their captain.
Nonetheless, a team has shown interest in Toews and is reportedly making a push to acquire him.
The Oilers aren't afraid to take risks, as the latest rumor suggests. Toews isn't at the level he used to be, but his experience and leadership can still help a team.
As reported by The Athletic:
"The Oilers could use another depth center, and Toews - if healthy - would check a lot of boxes as someone known for his leadership and defensive prowess.
But their cap situation and Toews' health mean they won't be opening the vault for him. If their due diligence deems it worth offering Toews a contract, it'll be for one year and likely less than $1 million."
But the question remains: does Toews even want to play for another team than the Blackhawks? There's no denying that if he's healthy, he can help any team if he wants to.
If not, retirement seems like the only option.
