Of course last night's Maple Leafs game wasn't without controversy, this time in the form of a botched call, or non-call we should say. Many people had strong opinions on this specific incident, but we now know how the Leafs captain feels about it.
Tavares Disagrees With Non-Call
After an incredibly controversial goal review, which determined that the Leafs had not in fact tied the game at 2-2, the hockey world lost their collective minds. Regardless of your feelings towards the Leafs, it was a clear as day goal.
Captain John Tavares was asked his thoughts following the game, and was pretty cut and dry on how he viewed it.
«I thought it was in. I was heading to the net. I was right there.» - John Tavares
While disappointing for Toronto, the NHL did issue an official explanation for the call.
It's got to be hard to watch your team get eliminated after a game filled with botched calls, but what's done is done.
