After losing in five games to the Florida Panthers, changes to the entire organization are on the horizon and set to take place any day now. With Dubas' status unknown, Friedman provided his two cents and an update on the potential of bringing him back for the long term.
Friedman notes he believes there have already been discussions between the Leafs and Dubas on a potential extension and contract renewal ahead of one of the most anticipated offseasons in recent memory for this organization.
With so many crucial decisions to be made for the Leafs on based deadlines for free agency, player extension requirements, and roster changes, the Leafs will want to get this done quickly. Adding to that, there is a growing interest in the young general manager across the league, with the price and incentives likely to be increasing by the day, which will only make the effort to sign him that much more difficult.
We'll see where this goes in the coming days and weeks. More to come.
