The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins played their first game against each other since Kyle Dubas was fired from the Leafs and joined the Penguins.

In a close game, the Penguins emerged victorious, outscoring Toronto 3-2.

This game offered a prime opportunity for fans and analysts to reflect on Dubas' tenure in Toronto.

While many people praised him for his work in Toronto, a renowned analyst offered a brutally honest opinion.

Cherry Openly Criticizes Kyle Dubas's Work in Toronto After First Matchup Against Old Team

Don Cherry, the controversial former analyst, was very critical of Dubas' work.

Here's what he said in the latest episode of his podcast:

"I don't think he did a good job," said Cherry. "I don't understand. The salary cap... he maxed that out, he didn't get past the second round, I just don't think he did a good job."

Many people believe that Dubas did a great job in Toronto, which is why Cherry's comments raised eyebrows.

The Leafs may have failed to get past the second round, but the team improved significantly during his tenure.

At some point, it's not the GM's fault if the players don't perform on the ice. He made key trades to help the team, but it wasn't enough.
