During a team practice this morning there was sights of a former Leafs goalie around in a team jacket.
McElhhinney Back With The Leafs?
With McElhinney being in a team jacket it makes some think that he may be the man to take over the goalie coach role in Toronto.
After Jon Elkin left the organization to join Kyle Dubas over in Pittsburgh there is currently an open spot for McElhinney to join in a coaching role.
The 16-year-vet goalie retired back in 2021 and may be looking to get back into the NHL.
McElhinney's Career
McElhinney played two seasons with the Leafs organization, putting up incredible numbers as the backup.
In his seasons with the Leafs he had a save percentage of 0.914 in year one and an impressive 0.934 in year two, where he amazed fans with massive saves throughout the year.
One moment that still gets fans excited to watch a save that allowed the Leafs to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2017.
McElhinney finished his career with a 0.904 save percentage, he was always a good backup option for any team he played for but never turned into a solidified starter.
