Cole Caufield Takes A Shot At His Brother & Maple Leafs Organization
Cole Caufield has taken a substantial shot at his brother and the Maple Leafs adding more fuel to the Canadian rivalry.
Cole and Brock Caufield: Two Elite Forwards
Most hockey fans know Cole Caufield as the 5'7" sniper for the Montreal Canadiens who is by far their most exciting player. What they don't know is that Cole has a brother, Brock, who signed a contract with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL last year.
After getting drafted in the first round of the 2019 draft, Cole went on to play in two seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers establishing himself as the most lethal goalscorer in the NCAA. During his two seasons with Wisconsin, Cole played alongside Brock who wound up playing in 5 seasons with the Badgers eventually finishing up last season.
Brock impressed enough to earn a deal with the Toronto Marlies and signed with them and has been gearing up for the upcoming season in Toronto which Cole is not much of a fan of.
Cole Sends A Shot Across The Bow To Brock
Cole Caufield said this about Brock signing with the Marlies:
"He picked a tough location, but I'm pumped up for him ... I was happy for him as a brother. Obviously, he could've picked any other team (smile). We'll leave it at that." - Cole Caufield
He is clearly unhappy with his brother's decision to sign with Toronto but at the end of the day, he is still rooting for him and wants to see him make the NHL.
At 24 though, Caufield will need to impress a lot with the Marlies to earn his true shot in the NHL which will probably be in 2024-25 if ever.
