Bruins net-minder takes a massive shot at the Maple Leafs with new goalie mask
The latest Vezina Trophy winner and current goalie for the Bruins, Linus Ullmark, will wear a new mask this season, and the design has been released on X.
The rivalry between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins is an old one. They've played 767 games against each other since they first faced off almost 100 years ago in 1924.
Even today, the competition remains fierce. They've often played against each other in the playoffs, and Ullmark's new mask pays tribute to one of the most important moments in the Bruins' recent history.
Linus Ullmark's mask features the iconic image of Patrice Bergeron celebrating the Game 7, OT-winner vs. the Maple Leafs.
Here's the goal in question:
Ullmark's New Mask: A Tribute to Bergeron or A Shot at the Maple Leafs?
With Bergeron's retirement, it's likely that Ullmark wanted to pay tribute to his former captain by representing one of the biggest moments of his career.
This could also be seen as a jab at the Leafs, as the goal depicted on the mask eliminated them from the playoffs back in 2013.
We can't wait to see where the rivalry will lead this season. With
Ryan Reaves,
Max Domi, and former Bruin
Tyler Bertuzzi now in Toronto, and Lucic back in Boston, games between the two teams promise to be heated!
