One legendary NHL player has been out of the league so far this season, but he's aiming at making a full comeback this year. That, of course, would be none other than Patrick Kane.

Kane Contract Talks With Leafs Heating Up

Today we learned that Kane has officially been talking with the Leafs about a possible contract. The news comes after weeks of speculative rumors have linked the winger to Toronto. Multiple sources have confirmed the news that Kane did in fact talk with the Leafs today.

Toronto really needs more help on the backend than they do up front and Kane is reportedly looking to play a significant role on his new team. The Leafs do potentially have a spot open on their top line as Tyler Bertuzzi has seemingly lost that spot. However, that would mean either Kane is playing on the left side to accommodate Marner or Marner playing on the left side to accommodate Kane. Neither option is particularly appealing, making Kane's fit in Toronto questionable.

Kane Sweepstakes Heating Up, Multiple NHL Teams Bidding On Him

While the Leafs are among the teams Kane has been talking with, it seems like they are an underdog in the Kane sweepstakes at this point. NHL insider Kevin Weekes believes the Florida Panthers may be the frontrunner to land his services.

Insider Darren Dreger reported today that the list of teams interested in Kane currently stands at around 10 teams, but Kane is looking to narrow the list down as fast as possible, potentially reaching a decision as early as the beginning of next week.

Among the teams that have been liked to Kane are the Leafs, Rangers, Red Wings, Sabres, Panthers, and Stars.
