The Calgary Flames season hasn't gone well thus far, and it appears to be triggering a rebuild, and with that has come a trade request from veteran defenseman Nikita Zadorov.
When this request was first made official, it was the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils that all emerged as genuine landing spots for the 6-foot-6, 248 pound defenseman.
The latter two teams are still in the race, but according to a recent report, the Flames have seemingly refused to do business with the Pacific Division rival Canucks.
Despite this, there's still plenty of teams in the mix, with the likes of the Arizona Coyotes all interested too, and while this move from Calgary makes sense, it would be strange to turn down the biggest offer they get if that were to come from Vancouver.
Ultimately, Zadorov will be the first big piece moved off the board for the Calgary Flames this season, and if they believe they can get the best offer outside of Vancouver, it makes sense, and at this moment, it appears as though Zadorov is destined to be a Toronto Maple Leaf.
