BREAKING: Maple Leafs reveal starter for the much anticipated Global Series game in Sweden
The Maple Leafs will be partaking in the Global Series today in the Global Series versus the Red Wings and we now know the starter.
Leafs Start Samsonov For The World Series
So far this season the Toronto Maple Leafs' goaltending has been a mixed bag. Between Ilya Samsonov and Joseph Woll, the Leafs have been backstopped to an 8-5-2 record.
For the much anticipated global series, head coach Sheldon Keefe has elected to start Ilya Samsonov versus the Detroit Red Wings.
Ilya Samsonov is off the ice first and is the projected starter tonight against the Red Wings.
Samsonov has gotten into 8 games so far this season having started all of them but he was unfortunately pulled in two of those games.
He currently has an .870 sv% and a 3.79 GAA which is far from ideal but hopefully he can begin to turn a new page with some newfound confidence from playing overseas.
After the game against Detroit, the Leafs will take on the Minnesota Wild and it is anticipated that Joseph Woll will be getting that start.
