The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced today that they have called up forward Pontus Holmberg from the Marlies. This comes after the Leafs lost last night's game to the Ottawa Senators. The Leafs will send down defenseman Max Lajoie.
The @MapleLeafs have recalled F Pontus Holmberg from the @TorontoMarlies.
The move is raising some eyebrows as the Leafs continue to be criticized for their bottom six play, specifically on the fourth line. They could be bringing up Holmberg, who's played in 7 games for the Leafs this year, in order to change things up at the bottom of the lineup, or even send a message with a healthy scratch.
Holmberg has yet to score for the Leafs this year, but has 1 goal and 1 assist in 2 games with the Marlies.
This is clearly a move to replace Ryan Reaves on the fourth line.
