Former Leafs Goalie Retires

Jonathan Bernier has officially announced his retirement from professional hockey.

Here's what he posted on his Instagram account:

"After fourteen years, it's time for me to hang up the pads. I can't thank the @lakings, @mapleleafs, @anaheimducks, @avalanche, @redwings, and @njdevils enough for giving me the opportunity to play in the best league in the world and in front of the best fans in the game. There are no words to express my gratitude to everyone who has been part of my hockey journey since day one; without all of you, I couldn't have done it.

To my lovely wife, kids, and family, thank you for always being by my side through the ups and downs. You have always supported me and helped me achieve my childhood dream, and have been my biggest fans.

Now I'm heading into the next chapter of life - retirement."

Bernier took part in 403 NHL games, also playing for the Devils, the Red Wings, the Avalanche, the Ducks, the Maple Leafs, and the Kings.

He played for the Leafs between 2013 and 2016.

We wish him the best in his retirement!
