In breaking news, Brad Treliving has announced John Klingberg's fate as a Toronto Maple Leaf, confirming his injury status.

Treliving Confirms Klingberg is Done for the Season

Today, Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving announced that John Klingberg will receive hip surgery at the end of the month, which will end his season. Klingberg is currently on LTIR after irritating a nagging hip issue over the course of the season.

#Leafs GM Brad Treliving says John Klingberg will have hip surgery at the end of the month and is shut down for the rest of the season.

Brad Treliving tells reporters that John Klingberg will undergo season-ending hip surgery.

Klingberg's $4.15 million salary will remain on LTIR, freeing money to go hunting for D-men in the trade market.

Klingberg is signed to a 1-year contract with the Maple Leafs and is unlikely to play another game for them.

With that, the Leafs will assuredly be on the hunt to find his replacement via a trade for a defenseman at some point, now with extra cash to acquire a strong defenseman.

We wish Klingberg the best in surgery and throughout his recovery.
