According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, Jeannot is out for Tampa's Game 5, and it appears an injury is the reason for his absence in a must win game for the Lightning, faced with potential elimination against the Leafs.
Mikey Eyssimont, who had been injured in Game 1, slots in for Tampa in place of the missing Jeannot.
It's not the most welcoming news for Tampa, who are without the forward they spent much of their draft capital on in order to acquire, banking on a return to the potential Jeannot showed last season, scoring 24 Goals in his first full NHL season, before a regression to 5 Goals in 56 Games led to Nashville moving on from Jeannot for a plethora of picks, including a 2025 1st.
Eyssimont, who had been traded to Tampa only days after Jeannot, having been moved from San Jose, who claimed him off waivers, is now tasked with the goal of rising to the occasion as Toronto looks to put the final dagger in a Tampa team that has lost a piece they gave much away for a shot at the title.
