One of the members of the Lightning back to back cup wins just had his current contract terminated.

Smith Gets KHL Contract Mutually Terminated



It has just been announced that former NHLer Gemel Smith and his KHL team have reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract,




Smith although never a big impact player on any team won back to back cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning back in 2020 and 2021.

Smith left the Lightning to get more ice time with the Red Wings, however after failing to do so he left to go overseas.

After 15 games played and only five points for the Dinamo Minsk in the KHL.

Gemel Smith's Shaky Career



The former fourth round pick of the the Dallas Stars in the 2012 NHL Entry draft.

Throughout his career in the NHL, he has consistently been bouncing from the AHL to the NHL but never finding his footing when playing.

Struggles to stay in the league for more than a couple games, the most games in one season he has thus fair in his career is 46 games with the Dalas Stars.

The 29-year-old will now be looking for a new home once more in his career.
